Announcing
2007 Teacher Internship Program

Partners in Education offered one teacher (elementary, secondary or career and technical), the opportunity to participate in a summer internship experience.  The schedule for the summer was:

Initial seminars focusing on business and the corporate environment was held in the Lehigh Valley on July 9, 2007. 

A six week work experience within participating PIE companies in Greater Hazleton Area from July 1 - August 16, 2007. These companies include:

Bemis Company, Inc.; CAN-DO, Inc.; Exopack, LLC; City of Hazleton; Fabri-Kal Corporation; First Quality Non-Wovens, Inc.; WYLN; George J, Hayden, Inc. ; Greater Hazleton Area Chamber of Commerce; Greater Hazleton Health Alliance; Alcoa Kama Corporation; PPL Electric Utilities; KNBT; UGI Utilities, Inc.; Service Electric Cablevision; Simmons Company; Thoren Caging Systems; Video by UVP.

Seminar on curriculum applications in the Lehigh Valley on August 3, 2007. 

Culminating luncheon and evaluation with teacher interns and company supervisors in the Lehigh Valley on August 17, 2007. 

The teacher (intern), received $3,000 for the summer’s experience.

This opportunity will be made available again to the Hazleton Area School District next summer and application must be submitted to the PIE office.  Please call the PIE office for more information at (570) 450-6314.
